The history of lobster eating

March 30, 2006

lIdon’t know exactly how it was discovered that lobsters are edible, but this is how I like to think it happened:

For hundreds of years, people looked at lobsters and thought “There’s no way I’m eating that!” One day, some guy hanging out with a crowd of people walks over to a lobster, picks it up, and starts to eat it. Surprising to all onlookers, he reports that the lobster tastes great. From then on, everyone loves the guy for turning them onto a delicious dish. Unfortunately, the next brave guy who picks up a similarly-shaped tarantula does not end up with the same rewarding result.
